Chief Financial Officer
Salary

$200,000 - $220,000 + executive benefits package

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
This is not a maintenance CFO role-this is a true rebuild. You'll step into a mission-driven organization at a critical turning point with full support from the CEO and Board to transform finance, operations, and reporting from the ground up.

The organization has scale, impact, and complexity: hundreds of employees, hundreds of funding contracts across county, state, and federal sources, and a finance function that is ready for modernization. Leadership is aligned and invested in bringing in the right person to stabilize, rebuild, and elevate.

What makes this opportunity especially compelling:

  • Direct line to CEO and Board with high visibility and influence
  • Full ownership of rebuilding finance, billing, and reporting functions
  • Opportunity to bring billing back in-house and stand up a stronger revenue cycle
  • Lead ERP optimization (NetSuite or similar) and upcoming system implementations
  • Executive-level compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • Mission-driven, family culture organization with meaningful community impact
  • Ability to build your team, structure, and processes the right way
  • Long-term opportunity to shift from hands-on transformation to strategic leadership

This is ideal for a leader who has rebuilt before, knows how to prioritize what matters first, and wants to leave a lasting operational legacy.

Key Responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer:

  • Lead full financial transformation including close process, reporting, controls, and audit readiness
  • Stabilize and rebuild billing operations, including oversight of outsourced partners and transition planning back in-house
  • Oversee grants, contracts, and funding compliance across a large, multi-source environment
  • Optimize ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and implement tools to improve AP, reporting, and visibility
  • Build and structure the finance team, delegating effectively to elevate overall performance

Qualifications of Chief Financial Officer:

  • Proven nonprofit finance leadership experience with exposure to grants, contracts, and government funding
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP and ability to improve systems and reporting
  • Background in restructuring, turnaround environments, and familiarity with healthcare billing cycles (Medicare/Medicaid)

What You'll Be Focused On (First 12 Months):

Operational Stabilization (40%)

  • Reduce month-end close from 45-60 days to a timely, reliable cycle
  • Address backlog across billing, contracts, and reporting
  • Improve accuracy and visibility of financial data

Billing & Revenue Cycle Rebuild (25%)

  • Oversee outsourced billing relationship and transition strategy
  • Rebuild internal billing processes and team structure
  • Improve understanding and management of the full billing lifecycle

Team Buildout & Leadership (20%)

  • Assess current team (300+ staff environment) and restructure where needed
  • Put strong leaders in place and delegate effectively
  • Create accountability, clarity, and scalable processes

Systems & Process Improvement (15%)

  • Optimize NetSuite usage for budgeting, reporting, and transparency
  • Support implementation of new tools (e.g., AP automation)
  • Partner with program leaders to ensure budget visibility and ownership
